Mission flour tortillas declare 0g trans fats on the packaging and the ingredients list “hydrogenated oil.” Is it really 0g trans fats?
Trans Fats are the result of the hydrogenation of polyunsaturated fats in order to increase stability by reducing the level of double and triple bonds, which contributes to rapid oxidation of the fat resulting in reduced shelf life and increased rancidity in processed foods. In order to produce press tortillas with 0 gr of Trans Fats we at Mission Foods use a blend of fully hydrogenated soybean oil plus soybean oil which allows us to obtain products with 0 gr of transfatty acids.
What is the difference between a wrap and a flour tortilla?
Wraps are a sandwich with a twist; they are larger than a regular tortilla and come in a variety of flavors. Good for appetizers and party snacks.
